Trying Everything on the Menu at an Iconic NYC Restaurant (Ft Claire Saffitz) | Bon Appétit

28 652
When it comes to classic French eateries in New York City, few are more iconic than SOHO's Balthazar. We sent Alex Delany to this famous brasserie to try one of everything on the breakfast menu, and we didn't send him alone. For this episode, he was joined by French-speaking pastry expert Claire Saffitz to eat way too much food and drink multiple bowls (yes, bowls) of milky coffee.

Wonderful! I don't know how they kept it all down... I'm a little disappointed that they kept showing the price of individual dishes, but didn't show the grand total.

To go to a French restaurant and declare the Full English is the best is a crime against humanity.

I'm nearly crying; as I miss travelling & discovering new places AND I was in NYC in Jan & didn't know about this place (I'm in Australia so won't be back in a hurry sadly) AND they charge $17 for a mimosa o_o
Also do Americans not know what a vol-au-vent or coulis is??

C: "Is there a better food in the whole world than a bagel with cream cheese and the whole works?" Me: Yes. Many. And besides, bagels are one of the most constipating forms of carbs in the world. I have no qualms with people choosing to eat them and liking them. Let's just keep the praise in proportion.

The 'galette complète' usually includes an egg, hence the word complete. There is also the term, 'galette Bretonne' or 'galette de sarrasin' that is used depending what you want inside your buck wheat crepe.
