can you please make a jewish dinner for your next basics episode. There are so many great foods from jews and there not all that difficult to make. I'm very interested to see how you would make anything from challah to shnitzel to knishes or whatever. Heres a link to the top 100 jewish foods (debatable list), some of which would be great to make. I also recomend reading the book, its both heartfelt and hilarious and can take anyone back to their childhood or that one time they were in a deli.

My favourite hack for French Onion Soup is to allow a wee divet in the cheese and to crack an egg over top right before tossing it under the broiler. The cheese gets good and melty right around the same time the white sets and the yolk is still runny, and it adds another level of richness to everything. Yum!
Also fun tip for vegetarians, if you make this with veggie broth, adding red wine and a bit of nutmeg along with herbs brings a nice sense of richness and body back into everything. I usually add the wine to the onions in the same way the sherry is added here to reduce it and to cook through the alcohol.
