I don’t care how low levels are. You are infected with the disease and you need to absolutely disclose this information before exposing someone to this. You have to be exposed to a lot of saliva to pass but at any rate you have the obligation to tell partners before exposing them to your bodily fluids that can pass this. Just because the carrier doesn’t think it is necessary, you have no right to take away anyone’s choice to continue to be around you and control their own exposure! It is about morality and character.

Lexi Gibson you don’t know the law too well. Screw intent, if you pass this without disclosing it to a partner and you have been diagnosed (whether someone told you that you were undetectable or not) it IS A CRIME and one can an will be prosecuted bc the state picks it us. In all states!

@RoxiePoxi For myself, I like to disclose before intercourse. But, there are many types of situations for why people may not, when they are undetectable. If one is practicing safe sex and not putting the other at risk, there is no wrong in that behavior. The rest is personal preference. Some people say you should tell first meet and some right before sex. Some before kissing. Etc. There are many opinions. The main focus is intent to pass, and safe sex. Which is why most states support this. It is completely logical. They live in cali and I live in Vegas. Both places do not criminalize, not telling. Plus, there has to be intent and ACTUAL PASSING of the virus for there to be a crime.

Its undetectable because these tests that quantify the level of HIV positive cells, are limited and can only detect positive cells after a threshold. So, potentially, you CAN transmit it, even IF the tests to detect infented cells cannot detect it; the reason being because these cells are so low in your body the tests cannot pick it up.

It would´ve been interesting if there were more people of different age groups. I think it´s different for people who were diagnosed in the 80-90s compared to people who were diagnosed in the 00-10s.

Iḿ shocked about the reaction to the first question. Just because YOU are still "healthy" due to medication doesn't mean everyone has access to those medications. People die from aids every single day.

My grandmother had HIV but I didn’t find out until one day she couldn’t find her reading glasses and asked me to read something from the medical paperwork she got from the hospital ((she had cancer and had just came home from a checkup after getting one of her breast removed)). She was getting a special bra made so that it made it look like she still had two breasts and she forgot what the name of it was so she asked me to look at the paperwork and read her the name aloud. As I’m scanning the pages I see something about Diabetes, HIV, and allergies to medicines. I know when I go to the hospital I always check “No” for all those so I didn’t look too hard at that but then I thought I saw “Positive” on there. I knew it wasn’t Diabetes because I was living with her at the time and would’ve noticed her checking her blood sugar all the time. Then I glanced at it again and clear as day it said “HIV Positive” with a check beside it. I looked at my grandmother kinda dumbfounded. I mean yeah she took a lot of pills every morning but mostly for her breast cancer and the fact that she’d just had surgery. I didn’t know any of the medication was for HIV though. So I went on to look for the name of the special bra she was getting but from then on I can definitely say I looked at her differently. Not necessarily in a bad light though. To me she just seemed stronger being that she was currently fighting breast cancer, lung cancer, undergoing surgeries and radiation therapies, dealing with the death of my grandfather, all while living with HIV. I know now from the video it’s not as bad as people make it out to be, like it’s not cooties lol it’s not transferable by touch, but me knowing she was HIV positive on top of all of that made me idolize her. ((This has nothing to do with the story but she also had thyroid cancer in her youth and had to get a chunk of her neck and shoulder removed)). Anyways, my point is she was a very strong woman who didn’t let her diagnosis be the end for her. She contracted the virus back in the 80’s when she had a blood transfusion with blood doctors didn’t know was infected because apparently back then they didn’t test blood donations for HIV. She never let anything stop her and I admire her deeply for that. A true soldier! 🤍

There’s a 10% transmission rate via vaginal/seminal fluid in undetectable individuals. So u doesn’t equal u for everyone. It’s a very small proportion of the population but wouldn’t it be awful to be one of those few?

To all the people saying 'I shouldn't have to tell people':
You can become resistant to the medication at any time with no initial symptoms, the virus is mutating constantly. This could cause an increased viral load and you could then transmit it.
So be a good person, and let the person decide for themselves if they are comfortable with having sex with you. Please do not make decisions about other peoples bodies for them.
To everyone: use condoms for one night stands. Always.
IAmPrince - 21 klukkustund síðan
That rationale is why I'm a long term relationship kind of guy is I'm so scared of some stranger not feeling compelled to tell me that they are positive. Yes you can get it from anyone, but everyone should get to make the decision to risk it or not for themselves if the other person knows they have it. Saying its just like fibromyalgia is cool in theory but if that were contagious I wouldn't want that either

There are 3 groups of people HIV/AIDS effect the most, 2 I will speak about and 1 I will avoid because those people have suffered enough. Getting 'AIDs' 9/10 times in the west happens through reckless, risky behaviour, the drug addict has an excuse, your intoxicated, desperate and will fall ill if you cannot get your narcotic. The homosexual has no excuse, "I have the urge to have sex with a complete stranger in a public toilet where others like me go and have sex, "I am in a married 'loving' relationship but me and Stefan bring men from the bar/club home all the time so they can both pile into me at the same time" The homosexual is of sound mind when they make these deviant reckless decisions.

If you play with fire you are going to get burnt and to add insult to injury a lot them go out and hope they will catch the 'bug' so they don't have to wait for the bad news they can just start being treated.

I dont care if you think you are "cured" or undetectable at the moment. Unless you get tested every week, YOU NEED TO TELL THE PERSON YOU ARE ABOUT TO BE HAVING SEX WITH. Withholding ANY information. ESPECIALLY about STD's, because you think someone will not want to have sex with you anymore is absolutely disgusting.

the question is why are gay dudes the hottest like this ain’t fair
Tsubaki - Degi Síðan síðan
It was a dark topic overall, but the first question was really interesting because before (especially around 80s when it started to be reported), HIV WAS a death sentence since there weren’t any cure.
I’m hoping that with medical advancement, there would be a cure for HIVs.
MikeyJlover - Degi Síðan síðan
Im sorry im not tryna be rude, but how on earth would that girl know if any of partners never contracted hiv from her? That virus can lie dormant for up to 10 years!! U need to tell people your status & let THEM make the decision if they wanna proceed a sexual relationship with you

It’s strange to watch people talking about it being undetactable and having kids when you are from the country where you were always told „always use protection” and that HIV is also transmitted by blood so i had this idea that it is a death sentence and you need to be super carefull around people having this. Glad to hear that its just my country poor healthcare xd

Wow.. Sorry, but you guys feel 'proud' about having this? Wtf? And having unprotected sex? And sometimes don't even tell this to your partners?????? Are you out of your minds????
j0eycans - Degi Síðan síðan
Simma T.o. You don’t have to be proud to be unashamed. They are proud of the person they are and how much stronger they have become because of their diagnosis. And only one of them said he ONCE didn’t tell a partner. People make mistakes. As far as unprotected sex goes, if you are on medication you can become undetectable, which means you cannot transmit the virus. Of course there are other STDs, but there is no risk of HIV when having sex with an undetectable person.
