I can't think of a scenario that would make me want that over my collection of cooking devices in my home. From a full size oven that will take/has taken an 8 kilo turkey to my cast iron skillet to my deep fat (veg oil) fryer to my 4 litre slow cooker to my large pressure cooker to ... etc, etc.

However it could be mightily useful when I camp in my folding caravan/camper and am on mains electric hookup. There's only so much cooking I can do on a double gas hob, while a roast this or steamed that or fried the other in one, small device that can fit in a cupboard could make it worth every penny.
Seeing some of the other responses; maybe not this one, though.

You can totally reverse sear a steak using one of these and a cast iron pan and it knocks it out of the park

Has anyone else noticed (and I've been watching on and off for MANY years) that they no longer just cook? Was it a business decision to move it all onto a paid app and to stop cooking on the channel? Such a shame that in my opinion ANOTHER youtube channel that goes after more money, and sways away from their original intended purpose of the channel. Granted they're not the first and won't be the last, but it's just... "meh" :/

Got something like this, works great at broiler, temp too uncontrollable for precise baking, great for slow cooking actually. Slap a steak on there at low temp and leave for like 20min. Get a small burner to give it a some crispy external.
Best part-muchhh less messy than actual frying. Not having to deal with the leftover oil and cleaning is excellent.

You should try a proper one of these like the NuWave oven or something of the like. You would get much better results.

‘Spritz’ really should be ‘3 or 4 big squirts’. The more oil you use, the closer it will be to frying... but say goodbye to the ‘health effects’.

Let us know when you test a proper air fryer, because the one you used here is the absolute worst model you could have found.

My husband and I have something called a Power Air Fryer Pro Plus-- lots of words that make it sound gimmicky but it works! We found it on sale one day and gave it a go. It's a convection oven, air fryer, dehydrator, rotisserie, and has a few other settings. It also comes with racks, a cylindrical fry basket that works on the rotisserie setting, rotisserie rod and skewers for kabobs. The meats are always cooked perfectly, juicy on the inside with good coloring/crust on the outside and have even gotten the grill/sear marks from the racks. It typically takes about 25-30 minutes for meats(depending on what you cook, a pork or beef roast might take about 40), about 10 minutes for fries and then 7-10 for things like chicken nuggets or smaller pieces of meat. A pizza typically takes around 7-10 minutes and the crust is always crispy. Jerky came out like jerky lol. My only complaint is the drip tray should be deeper because even with lining with foil, it's tricky to clean it without making a mess, but a quick remedy was using a small baking/cake pan to catch it.

Everyone here is complaining about how they tested the "wrong" airfryer. *READ THE TITLE.* It says testing a HALOGEN airfryer, not a normal airfryer.

we've had one of these for years and its one of the best things we've ever purchased, everything comes out super deliciouse, crispy and golden-y, we even put whole ass chickens in there and they come out great which makes me questions whether its brand of the machine or smth???

Air fryers are just counter-top convection ovens. Useful, great for baking and steaming, but not fryers.

So many comments saying that they picked the wrong air fryer, this isn't a standard air fryer, it's a halogen light fryer, the title says "Testing a Halogen Air Fryer" not "Testing an Air Fryer"

Philips, Airfryer is the ONLY "Airfryer" worthy of god ...
Seriously, I've bought 3 now and NONE good anything as quick or evenly as a Philips "Air Fryer" ....
Don't bother trying cheaper shit... its just not as quick to get the thoroughness .... .. just whatever. Save your money .. by the Philip Version.
How they do it is with the Heated Airflow within the bucket .. cheaper Airfryers have just a flat bucket .. square basket etc .. the Philips air fryers have a sculpted Teflon airflow directing into the frying basket ... yes yes yes i kno wit sounds like .. pfft! whatever ... but it DOES work, .. half the cooking time and half the time to actually crisp everything up .... just by the Philips on Graigs list or Ebay ... or new !

A regular hot air owen wich been along for 20 years at least, would do that much faster and in larger quantity. If you however do not have one, you are still in 1980 and i would suggest a visit to a store to get one.

You really need to coat the fries nicely with oil to get beautiful fries. Failing to do that may get you dry fries

This is probably useless in the UK...since most of your ovens have the fan option. All you have to do is put your stuff on a wire rack so the air can circulate, and have the fan setting on. In the US we don't have a fan setting on our oven.

The oil on the chips doesn't matter provided you aren't getting a oil soaked messed. It's the carbohydrates in the chips that matter. So, congratulations on having less stuff that doesn't matter!

These types of halogen ovens have a light that really isn't used for cooking but there's a regular ring shaped heating element in the lid. I have owned four of these glass bowl ones, once the heating element broke and the light still went on but no heat.

There's no motor to rotate a full chicken on a spit but it does roast chicken pieces well. A whole chicken takes about as long as an oven to cook through.
